Women Travelling to Meet a Partner

Women Travelling To Meet A Partner

The world sometimes seems smaller now than ever before, and for women who have to travel to meet a romantic partner this can seem like a pretty good thing. However, whether women are meeting a partner for the first time or rendezvousing with an old flame, going abroad to meet a romantic partner can bring its share of risk.

If you are considering travelling to meet a romantic partner, make sure that you take steps to travel safely, verify your partner’s identity, meet in a public place and report any suspicious behaviour to the proper authorities. Such logical actions may not seem incredibly romantic, but anyone worth your time and effort will be perfectly happy to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable.

Travel Safely

The very first step to making sure that you travel safely is to book a return ticket. Always have a planned departure date and a way out of a location abroad so that you’ll never feel trapped or be tricked into staying. Do not sell up and move somewhere new for a romantic partner, but rather set firm boundaries that you will meet them for a weekend or week.

Always leave a copy of your itinerary, passport and all contact information with friends at home and while you travel keep all of your identity, travel and financial documents on your person. Also travel with a list of emergency contact numbers with you at all times, keep your mobile charged and turned on and know the location and phone numbers for your nearest embassy or consulate.

Verify Identity

If you are meeting a romantic partner for the first time, do not trust that a photo sent to you is completely up to date or even correct. Instead, tell your partner that you will expect to see a variety of documents clearly showing his or her identity and that you will be staying in your own accommodation while you verify that these documents are correct.

A quick trip to a local police station should be all it takes to find out if a document has been forged or tampered with. If it turns out that someone does not want to meet you due to these requirements, or that someone tries to talk you out of these actions, proceed with extreme caution.

Meet In Public

This one should be obvious, but it bears repeating that meeting a romantic partner in public is the best way to stay safe during your initial contact. Do not invite him or her to a hotel room and do not travel to his or her home. Instead, select a neutral area such as café or restaurant.

Do not select something near your lodgings, and try not to select a bar or club as staying sober is important during this first meeting. Listen carefully to your instincts at this time as you may not have any logical reason to feel uncomfortable but that might not mean that you need to trust someone just because you can’t think of a reason not to.

Report Suspicious Behaviour

If you feel that your partner is acting suspiciously, consider speaking with local authorities. Explain why you are in the area and your reasons for not trusting the individual. It may turn out to be nothing, but if you don’t want to have anything to do with someone there may well be good reason for this.

Travelling to meet a romantic partner can be nerve-wracking. If you are travelling to meet a virtual stranger for the first time then you need to look after your safety first and foremost. If you are travelling to meet a long time love then you may still feel nervous or uncomfortable with being out of your natural habitat. Try to relax and enjoy your trip, but explain your feelings to your partner. If they are worth travelling for they will try their best to put you at ease.
